Oxfam is a global movement of people working together to end the injustice of poverty.
That means we tackle the inequality that keeps people poor. Together we save, protect and rebuild lives. When disaster strikes, we help people build better lives for themselves, and for others. We take on issues like land rights, climate change and discrimination against women. And we won’t stop until every person on the planet can enjoy life free from poverty.
We are an international confederation of 20 organizations (affiliates) working togetherwith partners and local communities in the areas of humanitarian, development and campaigning, in around 90 countries.
The Oxfam International Secretariat is currently headquartered in Nairobi, with offices in Oxford, Washington DC, New York, Brussels, Geneva, and a liaison office with the Africa Union in Addis Ababa.
The Role
Oxfam’s Pan Africa Program (PAP) aims to contribute to build a self-reliant Africa that is democratic, peaceful and responsive to the rights and development needs of citizens. And we want to do this by promoting active citizenship, effective national governance and the realization and enjoyment of fundamental freedoms and human rights, in close alliance and collaboration with coalitions, networks, CSOs and other key stakeholders across the continent. We aim to influence, popularize and implement key international and continental policies, standards, pledges and human rights instruments as well as to challenge attitudes and beliefs that prevent people from realizing their rights. We also support a strong and autonomous pan Africa campaigning force of coalitions, alliances and People movements around their own objectives as well as link with Global solidarity movements
Oxfam International Secretariat is looking for a Pan Africa Program (PAP) Director to lead the transition of the Pan African program into a new strategy that is aligned with the ‘new value proposition’ of the Pan Africa program and consistent with the direction of the New Oxfam Global Strategy and ways of working. The PAP Director will be working closely with the 5 African Oxfam Regional platforms, 36 country teams across the continent, and Oxfam affiliates; likewise the PAP Director will manage and ensure the delivery of the Pan African program and contribute to designing effective influencing strategies.
