Taghyeer is a non-profit organisation, established and registered in occupied Palestinian territory in March 2014. It seeks to encourage free speech and empower youth to advocate for positive change in policies through innovative multimedia platforms and technology. It facilitates data collection through digital tools for making informed decisions, advocates for the digital rights, women's rights and promotes online and mobile journalism. Our mission is turning ideas into action by connecting people, sharing information, boosting skills and innovative tools both online and offline to promote change.
About Wapikoni Mobile:
Founded in 2003 in Canada, Wapikoni Mobile has developed an innovative approach where they travel to Aboriginal communities in Canada and abroad, providing workshops for youth that allow them to master digital tools by directing short films and musical works to tell their story.
Background:
The overall objective of the project “YouLead- Bedouin Youth Leaders in the Digital Age” is to empower young women and men in Area C, OPT. This is a pilot project aiming to adapt and test a Canadian youth empowerment model employed for First Nations communities in Canada in the OPT context, specifically with marginalized youth in Area C. The main core of the project is creative trainings to bring young women and men to work together, to express themselves, to tell their story, identify their interests, thus shaping potential story ideas.
Deliverables:
Taghyeer, in partnership with Oxfam, is seeking to hire a qualified Gender Specialist to be responsible for delivering for the below duties and responsibilities:
· Develop and carry out a gender analysis of the communities, as well as a needs assessment with participants
· Produce an outreach strategy report, which will include recommendations for equity and participation measures.
· Deliver awareness raising workshops on transformative feminist leadership and on social norms
· Develop a plan for GBV prevention and mitigation, and train implementing partners on GBV
· Advice and support to YouLead management on gender issues through the planning and implementation phase.
Competencies:
· Strong experience in gender justice projects.
· Strong knowledge and experience on GBV and referral system in OPT.
· Experience working in gender-sensitive or conservative contexts.
· Experience in working with youth.
· Experience in working on shifting negative social norms.
· Knowledge of feminist approaches to leadership.
· Knowledge on digital security and GBV.
· Ability to advocate and provide policy advice.
· Ability to builds strong relationships with the groups, the community leaders and partners.
· Skills in gender-sensitive Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL).
· Working knowledge of English.
Timeframe:
· The scope of work and the assignments is expected to take place between July and November 2018.
