BACKGROUND:
The Asia Regional Platform is organizing a discussion panel during the Asian Development Bank Annual General Meeting (ADB-AM), which will be held in Manila, Philippines from May 4-6, 2018. The discussion panel is an opportunity for Oxfam to engage ADB and policies and practice in line with its advocacy to promote and ensure responsible and inclusive investments. It also forms part of Oxfam’s strategy of influencing international financial institutions (IFIs) to support and not undermine food insecurity, inequality, and poverty objectives.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Support the Asia Policy and Research Coordinator/Regional Campaigns and Policy Manager in organizing and coordinating an ADB AGM core group which will provide the steer for Oxfam’s participation in the ADB AGM. Coordinate and collaborate with Oxfam partners and allies on plans for the ADB AGM. Liaise with ADB on all preparations related to the panel, including but not limited to the following: (i) submission of panel description and bios of speakers (ii) inviting audiences for the panel through the ADB invitation system (iii) coordination with the NGO office. Coordinate with the Asia Communications and Media Coordinator in developing communication materials related to the event. Undertake all the logistical preparations for the panel.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
The candidate must have excellent organization and coordination skills. He or she must have high levels of initiative, and the ability to deliver agreed outputs with minimum supervision. He or she must have the capacity to liaise and work collaboratively with colleagues from within Oxfam, partners, and the ADB, among other institutions. The candidate must have the necessary skills to lead and convene a working group for the delivery of agreed outcomes. Knowledge and prior experience engaging the ADB is a plus.
The Successful candidate will be subject to screening process and satisfactory reference check from current and previous supervisors.
