The Global Humanitarian Team works across Oxfam and with others to maximize the quality and impact of Oxfam’s humanitarian programme by:

  • Delivering a swift emergency scale up capacity
  • Supporting programme strategy operational design, for humanitarian preparedness and response
  • Capacity building across Oxfam and partner organisations
  • Supporting learning, innovation and advocating for change The HSP team purpose is to respond effectively and rapidly to major emergencies anywhere in the world, and enable communities to become more resilient to future shocks and stresses.

What we are looking for

HSPs are a core part of Oxfam’s humanitarian strategy and the humanitarian department. Your role will be to enable communities to become more resilient to future shocks by building and supporting the capacity of the organization to respond effectively and rapidly to Cat 1 and 2 emergencies throughout the world. The post holder will undertake a series of deployments in a variety of contexts including first phase emergency response, scale up of country programmes to meet the needs of evolving slow onset crises, to build the resilience of the chronically vulnerable through designing long-term programmes, or influencing governments.

You will have a strong background in EFSVL project management including assessments (food security, livelihoods and market assessments), implementing direct/ indirect and market support responses and MEAL. As well as programme design, response analysis, strategy development, proposal writing, external representation and capacity building experience. Having implemented a range of projects in a variety of countries and contexts is a must. This will include food assistance (in-kind, vouchers, cash transfers (including electronic transfers) and/or a mix), livelihoods interventions, integration of EFVSL with WaSH (PHP and PHE) as well as Protection and preparedness activities. An understanding of Gender is also required. You will be able to deploy at short notice to areas affected by crisis and support the rapid scale up of humanitarian programmes to meet life saving needs of affected people. In addition, you will be fluent in written and spoken French and at a high level of English.

What we can offer you

  • Contract: Contract for 1 year.
  • Annual gross salary: HAY 10 (32.829 Euros). Expenses paid or per diem during missions
  • Social benefits: Medical, life and accident insurance.
  • Working place: Home based position with some short periods in HQs - It is estimated that 80% of the time is spent on deployment.
  • Incorporation: As soon as possible. Applicants must – due to legal reasons – hold EU citizenship or valid EU residence permit and a valid Spanish work permit. Applications not meeting these conditions can unfortunately not be considered.
