The Role

Since 2015, the Oxfam GB has been implementing a Recycling Pilot Project to improve livelihoods and create employment opportunities for Syrian Refugees living in Za’atari Camp. Oxfam plans to expand and replicate the successful elements of the pilot project in all districts of Za’atari Camp and possibly into the host communities. The objective of this project; “To improve the livelihood of Syrian women and men living in Za’atari camp through improvement of short term resilience, while increasing knowledge and practice of environmentally sustainable waste management.”

Investigate the micro and small enterprise markets in Jordan in order to identify or influence those economic sectors / sub-sectors with the highest potential for women enterprises to be developed by the Livelihoods Project implemented by Oxfam, subsequently providing specific, relevant, updated, detailed and reliable advice as to which areas of business the IGA-supported entrepreneurs should select, strengthen or diversify with a special focus on value-added activities.

The expected results will include Mapping out the current situation in terms of available raw materials, local skills, processing and communication infrastructure, marketing channels and appropriate technologies within the Za’atari camp and Mafraq Governorate.

Deliverables:

  • Preliminary report that reflects achievement of all the above mentioned tasks
  • Presentation on preliminary report/findings
  • Interim report after incorporation of comments
  • Final report

Methodology:

Applicants should provide a description of their proposed methodology for meeting the objectives of the research project as part of their technical expression of interest. It is anticipated that the proposal will include a mixture of primary and secondary data collection methods.

Given the need to conduct the research within a short time frame (Approximately 2 to 3 Months), it is anticipated that samples in each district will be used during the research. The sample will incorporate a different range of social, geographical and economic backgrounds.

Applications should include:

  • A cover letter detailing interest in the project and relevant experience
  • CV(s) of consultant(s)
  • A proposed work plan including budget and data collection modalities
  • A sample of relevant written work

The shortlisted candidates will be requested to submit a proposal and budget for the assessment
