Oxfam International is unable to guarantee the obtaining of a work permit for the role. Candidates must have and be able to retain the legal right to work in the above-mentioned locations. *The Role

Oxfam International Secretariat is looking for a Just Economies and Inequality Lead. The role is part of Oxfam’s Pan Africa Program Influencing team (PAP) that connects with various advocacy and campaign efforts across the continent but also contributes to Oxfam’s Global campaign objectives. The role arises from an understanding that the economic models and structure of Africa’s economies (even more post COVID-19), is characterised by injustices, unsustainability, exploitation, and exclusion which breeds structural inequalities.

The incumbent contributes significantly to the ongoing power analyses and strategic direction of Oxfam’s work around Just Economies (for people and the planet) and Inequality Campaign in Africa; and leads aspects of it at the continental and international level. H/She ensures an integrated approach and connectedness (synergy) of all our work including cross-campaigns (ways of working and coordination) and initiate program development and fundraising opportunities; and connects them with the wider PAP management and other internal (PAP, regions, countries, OI, Affiliates) and external (donors, partners, allies, CS movements) stakeholders in such a way as to maximise resource acquisition and efficient and impactful delivery.

An individual with demonstrable experience with building and implementing dynamic campaigns. advocacy and influencing strategies that have led to national and/or regional change in Africa with multi-year work experience in one or more countries/regions in Africa. The ideal candidate should have strong understanding of principles for successful influencing of political and private sector targets in Africa. The Lead must have the ability to build relationships within and outside the organisation, engage with traditional and non-traditional stakeholders to increase influence and impact, experience of working with and/or within civil society alliances and more importantly provision of leadership and management.
