1. Background
In Myanmar, Oxfam's goal is to contribute to the reduction of poverty and inequality, to promote the collective power of women and men to harness the benefits of political reforms and economic development, and to strengthen the protection and resilience of communities affected by conflict and disasters. The rights of women and the promotion of gender equality is at the heart of all our work in Myanmar.
2. Purpose
Oxfam in Myanmar seeks a Writer and Editor Consultant for three months who can contribute to the production and finalization of a high-quality donor proposal. In addition the consultant will support in the writing and editing of key concept notes, donor and external reports, and some other communication products to be agreed in consultation.
The consultant will report to the Programme Director and will work across programme teams to coordinate and deliver writing and editing support requests and outputs. The consultant will be expected to prioritize competing deliverables and be able to work to strict deadlines.
The consultant will support with the following areas of work:
- The production and editing of key proposals and concept notes of a high quality;
- Editing of donor reports, annual reports and other key project related documentation;
- Writing and editing of select external communications (including short issue- and project - based stories based on existing research and project activities) and other related communications products.
3. Deliverables &Timetable
The provision of the Services is to commence on 8th July and end on 8th October 2021 unless this agreement starts later than this date or is terminated early in accordance with the terms of this Agreement. During that period, the total number of working days is estimated to be between 25 – 30 days, with 30 days as the maximum**.**
4. Consultant’s Qualifications & Requirements
- Education to at least degree level in communications, journalism, social sciences, international development or another relevant field.
- Superior English language writing and copy-editing skills.
- Proven track record of writing and editing for different audiences in a clear, compelling and coherent manner. Preferably experience writing for and understanding of institutional donors.
- Proven track record of high-quality copy editing of products for external publication and the ability to adhere to style guidelines.
- Proven experience of writing and editing concept notes and proposals.
- Experience working with a variety of stakeholders with strong coordination and relationship management skills
- Knowledge of and ability to write on humanitarian and development issues in relation to the Myanmar context.
- Ability to prioritize competing demands/deadlines and deliver on work according to strict deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and coordinate with team members located in various locations.
- Availability for an estimated 25 – 30 working days between 8th July – 8th October 2021.
