We are looking for an outstanding individual to lead our programme in Liberia; to strengthen its impact and quality with a view to expand the scope even further. This is a very senior position at the head of the country management team, and requires extensive experience of both development and humanitarian programming, preferably in a context similar to the current situation in Mano River.

The role

As a Country Director you will be responsible for implementing the Oxfam 2020 Vision which aims, to create a stronger Oxfam that is globally coordinated and relevant in every country in which we work. Aiming to create a future where Oxfam is a more interdependent network, driven more by knowledge, organized for more simplicity internally and more globally balanced. You'll be building and leading a committed team and together, you will work to alleviate suffering and overcome poverty. Combining ideas, knowledge and backgrounds of others with your own unique blend of leadership, vision and teamwork you will create effective and meaningful partnerships between Oxfam and local communities, fostering a common sense of purpose and empowerment. You’ll be making key choices on where, when and how to target your resources, building and developing key relationships with governing bodies including other agencies whilst of course, always being prepared for any humanitarian crises that may occur in Liberia.

The Leader we are looking for

This role is for an exceptional leader committed to Oxfam values and to the success of Oxfam International programmes. Excellent analytical skills will enable you to constantly adapt to an ever-changing context. With proven strategic and operational capacities in highly complex environment and substantial years of experience working in developing countries and in senior management functions, you can demonstrate very strong people management skills. Being familiar to multi-cultural environment and strongly committed to issues such as Gender & diversity will be an asset for this role. Considerable capacities on distance management, and necessary diplomatic skills will allow facilitating a good working relationship within the Oxfam family. High level of creativity and adaptability are required for a self-starter and a fast-learner.

What we are offering

This is an open-ended contract with a highly attractive salary, starting from $66.000 to $75.000 Net, for exceptional candidates. In addition to your net pay, Oxfam will cover all statutory tax and social security liabilities relating to your Oxfam employment.

You will also receive competitive benefits specific to your contract. These would include annual leave, pension medical coverage, life insurance, flights home, accommodation, rest and recuperation, and a Hard to work allowance.
