The Role
You will play a vital role in the success of the projects, ‘Consumers and Retailers Driving Sustainable Food Market in Thailand in the Seafood, Chicken and Orange supply chains’ and ‘Effective Participation in Governance of Fisheries in Thailand’. The change goal is to enable an overall food market transformation in Thailand that improves standards of food safety, environmental sustainability and respects rights of labors and small producers. Your core responsibilities will include: Leading private sector advocacy and campaigning for Oxfam in Thailand.
- Leading and managing research plans to improve policies.
- Establishing and cultivating regular contacts with key stakeholders, partners, and allies.
- Convening stakeholders to dialogue on industry standards improvement.
- Representing Oxfam in line with objectives or emerging policy influencing opportunities.
- Acting as an Influencing network focal point for Oxfam in Thailand
- Working with the Oxfam Regional Platform and alliances to elicit appropriate support and link the campaigns at regional and global levels.
- Participating in senior management meetings, contributing to discussions and decision-making.
- Ensuring gender analysis is applied across all levels of planning and delivery of the advocacy strategy.
Skills Required
You will have advocacy or policy and campaign leadership experience from either a NGO, social enterprise or government related context. Your strategic mindset and excellent communication skills will enable you to lobby high-level decision makers to address the current inequality of the food system and promote gender equality. Additional skills you will offer include:
- Proven, collaborative team leadership and strong experience in organisational management.
Effective networking skills, including private sector engagement relating to ethical and sustainable policy and practice.
An in-depth understanding, and experience of working on, socio-economic development issues, sensitivities and Thailand’s policy environment.
Excellent analytical and conceptual skills, a demonstrated commitment to diversity and women’s rights with an ability to integrate gender into programmes and advocacy work.
Excellent English and native Thai language skills with work rights for Thailand.
