Other locations where Oxfam has an office (preferably in Europe locations such as Barcelona, Oxford or The Hague) may also be considered, subject to being able to establish a contract of employment with the hosting affiliate, and where the right to work is already possessed and can be maintained. Oxfam is unable to provide relocation support for a candidate to take up this role.Oxfam International is unable to guarantee the obtaining of a work permit for the role. Candidates must already have and be able to maintain the legal right to take up paid employment in the location for which they apply.
  • Contract: 2-year fixed term (subject to being able to establish a fixed-term contract of employment with hosting affiliates)

The Role

As part of the Oxfam Global Safeguarding Team and the broader Oxfam Safeguarding network, this role helps delivering Oxfam’s strategy and program to protect those we work with from sexual exploitation and abuse perpetrated by Oxfam representatives. This is done through provision of strategic technical SG advice, directly supporting quality and lawful investigations, supporting others to undertake them, reporting, and building capacity.

This role will focus on two key areas: provision and coordination of expert technical advice on safeguarding; and overall coordination of policies and procedures related to safeguarding. The post holder will specifically develop capacity and understanding, provide expert advice and case management to the Oxfam International Secretariat and specifically the Oxfam International Management Team, and Oxfam affiliates, when needed and agreed by the Associate Director Safeguarding. They will also be responsible for supporting SG focal points. Under the leadership of the Associate Director of Safeguarding, the post holder will also act as a central coordination point for technical advice overall. What we're looking for

We are looking for an experienced and passionate safeguarding professional with strong leadership and management capabilities and experience. You will have solid experience in the investigation of safeguarding allegations/cases (including sexual abuse and exploitation of children and adults, child protection and gender-based violence) ideally across a range of contexts, including developing or fragile countries. You will have strong interpersonal and networking skills, solid experience in the provision of both individual case management as well as strategic advice, and the ability to influence, supporting individual behaviors as well as organizational change. You will have a proven track record in strengthening individual and organizational capacity in investigations and case management, as well as understanding of and adherence to organizational policies and procedures related to safeguarding. You will be comfortable working in complex and diverse organizations, and challenging international environments, and supporting and influencing a geographically diverse set of colleagues. You will be an excellent communicator in written and spoken English.
