Oxfam responds directly wherever there is a widespread threat to life, health and livelihoods, with which it is beyond people’s capacity to cope, and where it can make a positive difference.

We are looking for an Emergency Food Security and Vulnerable Livelihoods Coordinator to respond to El Nino impact in Southern Africa. This job is based in Harare and only open to individuals with right to reside and work in Zimbabwe.

This job is responsible for:

Supporting countries and the region respond to category 2 Food security humanitarian responses and to build their humanitarian capacity including resource mobilisation. The EFSVL Coordinator will represent Oxfam in humanitarian processes and support learning and knowledge development.

Essential Skills and Competencies

  • Knowledge and experience of emergency food security and livelihoods, including in assessment, analysis, and program design; technical standards and best practices; and in at least one core thematic areas including cash-transfer and market-based programming, social protection and/or resilience; agriculture and livestock; food aid; and/or nutrition; preparedness and early warning.
  • The ability to support the development of high quality proposals, and represent the organisation to external donors
  • Ability to deploy at short notice to areas affected by crisis and support the rapid scale up.
  • Demonstrate Oxfam values and behavioural competencies.
  • Fluent written and spoken English; other languages of the region are highly desirable, in particular Portuguese.
