This post will be part of the OI Secretariat Advocacy & Campaigns team.

The Role

Oxfam International is looking for an exceptional individual with advocacy and management experience to provide strategic leadership to Oxfam’s multi-faceted approach to influencing through the OI Advocacy Offices, positioning Oxfam as a principled and effective advocate and facilitating an integrated collaboration across the Oxfam Confederation. It entails the overall management of 26 staff in four Oxfam Advocacy Offices (Brussels, New York, Washington DC and Moscow) including 9 directs reports and 3 matrix-managed staff and heading the OI EU Office. The position formally deputizes for the Director where required and ensure.

A wide experience of developing and implementing all aspects of influencing strategies will include effective representation of issues and institutions to a broad range of parties as well as direct lobbying. Experience in managing and developing others is essential, with strong interpersonal and people management skills and working with others at a distance. The Deputy Director will maintain a public profile, build external relationships and be an excellent communicator.

Fluency in English required and competence in French and/or Spanish is desirable.

Short-term international travel will be required.
