Consultancy for Trainers for Visual and Written Storytelling Workshop

Oxfam is seeking a skilled and experienced trainer(s) to lead a storytelling training program focused on bodily autonomy under Masarouna programe. Masarouna is funded by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, under the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) Partnership Fund. It seeks to mobilize the power of young people (YP) for collective action across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to support their fight for greater freedom of choice and respect for their SRHR through new and innovative pathways for change. The primary objective of this training is to empower 10 young women with storytelling techniques to create impactful visual and written stories on the subject of bodily autonomy.

The selected training or training team will be responsible for the following:

  • Developing a training curriculum that covers the art of storytelling including effective narrative, filming and photography techniques around the topic of bodily autonomy in the MENA region.
  • Designing interactive and engaging sessions that encourage active participation and learning among the participants.
  • Facilitate a follow-up virtual session to provide feedback on participants’ created stories.
  • Ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment that fosters open dialogue and exchange of ideas.
  • Facilitating group discussions, exercises, and practical activities to enhance the participants' storytelling skills including techniques for creating compelling photos and videos using readily available free tools.
  • Collecting and analyzing feedback from participants to continually improve the training experience.

The trainer or training team should possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Demonstrated expertise in storytelling for impact, creative writing, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in the visual aspect of storytelling - either through photography or videography.
  • Proven experience in conducting interactive and impactful training sessions or workshops.
  • Knowledge and understanding of gender issues, bodily autonomy, and advocacy in the MENA region.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills to engage participants effectively.
  • Cultural sensitivity and the ability to create an inclusive learning environment.
  • Familiarity with virtual training tools and video conferencing platforms.
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English and Arabic languages.

  • Updated CV of the trainer or the team that will conduct the training, highlighting relevant experience in storytelling training.
  • A brief proposal outlining the approach to conducting the storytelling training on bodily autonomy, including a rough outline of the training sessions.
  • Financial offer that includes a comprehensive budget, encompassing a breakdown of costs for the trainer's time, expertise, preparation for the training, travel costs, any other related expenses, and if applicable, the costs associated with the co-training team for the workshop.
