OXFAM Global Humanitarian Team (GHT) is looking for Deputy Humanitarian Director, Director of Performance and Innovation who will be able to;
- Lead and deliver a clear programme quality strategy based on knowledge to improve Oxfam’s global humanitarian programme to meet and progress internal and external commitments.
- Drive Oxfam’s aspiration to be a thought leader in the humanitarian community working closely with other teams in GHT, countries, partners, and affiliates to progress innovation in Oxfam’s humanitarian work and amplify it in the sector.
- Ensure clear, coherent, and user-friendly programme standards so that staff and partners understand expectations upon them. Ensure standards are informed by feminist principles, inclusive in scope and committed to the de-colonial agenda.
- Promote and support the implementation of the One Programme Approach and the work across the Nexus through collaboration across different internal teams.
Our next Deputy Humanitarian Director will require;
- Proven track record in senior humanitarian management at a field and at a headquarters level, in different type of crisis, including strategy development and design, with a deep understanding of humanitarian issues, sufficient to advise on the institutional standards and legal frameworks in which humanitarian action takes place.
- Able to strategically scan the environment, anticipate changes, identify, and propose opportunities.
- Experience in policy development and programme quality initiatives in the humanitarian sector.
- High-level experience of managing senior technical staff, and processes associated with quality and knowledge management.
- Knowledge and experience of working with international institutional and private sector donor initiatives (including proposal writing).
- Sound financial management skills and experience.
- Well-developed ability to motivate and influence at various organisational levels and to represent Oxfam externally at a strategic level and in high-profile environments.
- Proven decision-making capability working with significant levels of autonomy and high level of initiative. Comfortable with a lack of clarity and proven complex problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal in English and able to present complex topics clearly and succinctly.
- Strong self-awareness and excellent inter-personal, facilitation, networking, and partnership building skills.
- The ability to travel for up to a maximum of 12 weeks per year and the ability to travel with 48 hours’ notice. In addition, this might include a block of up to 6 weeks continuous, in extremis, not more than once a year.
