*Who we’re looking for
A passionate, visionary and dynamic leader with in-depth understanding and knowledge of gender justice and women’s rights issues, intersectional feminist approaches and women’s rights/ feminist organisations and networks, as well as lived experience of global South perspectives. The post holder is expected to demonstrate leadership ability at a senior, strategic level and in complex and dispersed organizational settings, using mostly virtual means of engagement with strong collaboration, networking and team building skills; a participatory and empowering leadership style; the ability to navigate ambitious change processes; and strong people management and communication skills, including in complex matrix environments and across regions, cultures and professional backgrounds.
Experience of deploying intersectional approaches in and beyond working on gender justice and women’s rights in development and/ or humanitarian work, policy and campaigns; as well as sound understanding of how to facilitate and manage transformational change in a diverse, multi-stakeholder context are also required for this role.
What we offer
This role provides an opportunity to advance Oxfam’s fight for gender justice and to drive our commitment to being feminist in all we do by applying a feminist and intersectional lens to all our analysis (research and knowledge), actions (programs, influencing, communication, operations) and interactions (relationships and decision making). It also contributes expertise and perspective to the transformation of our own organizational structures, cultures and dynamics. As a senior staff member within the Oxfam International’ Strategy and Feminist Futures Department, who will liaise closely with other gender justice stakeholders across the Oxfam confederation and who may at times be requested to deputize for the Department Director, the Gender Justice Director makes a critical contribution to the implementation of Oxfam’s Global Strategic Framework (2020-2030) and our fight against inequality to end poverty and injustice, working with people, communities and partners across regions as part of a global movement for change.
If you share our vision, mission and commitment to transformative system change, and you are ready to take on this challenge, this role offers the opportunity to join a global and increasingly diverse network of activists, scope for great personal fulfilment – and a wide range of unique opportunities to learn, develop and have impact together with others across and beyond the Oxfam confederation.
Oxfam is committed to providing a fair compensation package and to providing a flexible, supportive, working environment.**
